Brazoria County – County Officials are keeping a watchful eye on the Brazos River at Rosharon, as heavy rainfall pours into the Brazos River watershed north of the county. “There is potential that we could see the Brazos River at Rosharon hit moderate flood stage next weekend and beyond”, says County Judge Matt Sebesta.

The National Weather Service is providing officials with updates on any possible changes along the Brazos River. “We want our citizens to be aware that we could see a big rise in the river by next weekend, if rain predictions in the river’s watershed remain accurate”, says Steve Rosa, Brazoria County Emergency Management Coordinator.

Judge Sebesta suggests residents living in the low-lying areas along the river stay very vigilant next week and into the weekend. Residents with livestock and/or equipment in low-lying areas along the river should have a plan in case we do see a major rise in the river.

The county will be updating residents through social media and the new free ReadyBrazoriaCounty App on any changes on the river. Stay informed, stay prepared and stay safe.
