"Brazoria County's Believe It or Not" Debut at the Brazoria County Historical Museum

Post Date:07/15/2025 8:04 AM

The Brazoria County Historical Museum is excited to announce the debut of its first-ever, teen-led exhibit, "Brazoria County’s Believe It or Not," created entirely by the BCHM Teen Ambassadors. This unique and engaging exhibit explores the most surprising, strange, and little-known stories from Brazoria County’s history—through the eyes and voices of its youth.

The BCHM Teen Ambassadors program is a brand-new initiative launched by the Museum to give local teens ages 13–18 the opportunity to dive into the world of history. The inaugural group of Teen Ambassadors developed the concept for the exhibit, conducted original research, and designed and installed the final product from start to finish.

"This program empowers young people to tell the stories that fascinate them and connect with their community in a meaningful way," said Jennifer Caulkins, Programs Manager at BCHM. "They’ve done an incredible job of bringing this exhibit to life.”

"Brazoria County’s Believe It or Not" opens July 28 to the public at the Brazoria County Historical Museum, 100 East Cedar in Angleton, inviting visitors to experience the weird, wonderful, and unbelievable corners of local history. The museum is free and open to the public Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm.

To celebrate the exhibit, the Teen Ambassadors are also hosting a Teen Game Night on Sunday, September 7 at 3:00 PM. Open to ages 13–18, the event will feature games themed to Brazoria County’s Believe It or Not, including Bingo, Broken Telephone, Ghost in the Graveyard, and more. Refreshments will be provided, and teens are invited to come enjoy an afternoon of fun, mystery, and local lore.

The next session of the BCHM Teen Ambassadors program begins in October. Teens interested in joining should contact Jennifer Caulkins, Programs Manager, at 979-864-1208 or programs@bchm.org for more information.
