Carrie Thompson Williams Thomas was recognized yesterday in Commissioners Court. Carrie Thompson Williams Thomas, affectionately known by many as “Mama Carrie”, was born on January 27, 1921, in Brazoria County, Texas. Mrs. Thomas has a distinguished list of honors such as Zion Temple African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church Longstanding Member, Sweeny District Willing Workers Woman of the Year Award (1989), Mims Juneteenth Committee Citizen of the Year, and many more. “Mama Carrie” lives by the philosophy of “Live life to the fullest each day and ask the Lord to teach her His will”. Please join us as we honor Carrie Thompson Williams Thomas for her faithful service, enduring legacy, and lifelong devotion to her family, church, community, and county.

 

National 4-H Week

October 5 – October 11 was proclaimed National 4-H Week yesterday by Commissioners Court. For the past 117 years, the 4-H Youth Development Program of the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service has looked to provide a learning experience for children ages 8 – 19 to acquire knowledge, develop life skills, and form attitudes that enable them to become self-directed, productive, and contributing members of our society.
