Post Date:10/29/2025 9:05 AM

Alzheimer's Awareness Month

November was proclaimed “Alzheimer’s Awareness Month” by Commissioners Court. Alzheimer’s doesn’t just affect individuals; it impacts families, friends, and neighbors around us. With Alzheimer’s affecting more than 5,100 people in Brazoria County alone, the Brazoria County Alzheimer’s Awareness Project is dedicated to increasing awareness through education and emphasizing the importance of early detection and support to those affected.

Commissioners Court proclaimed October as “Careers in Construction Month” in Brazoria County. With the construction industry needing nearly 500,000 new craft professionals in 2026, it is important to increase public awareness and appreciation of construction craft professionals and the entire construction workforce. Together, we wish you great success with your scheduled events to give students a hands-on chance for exposure to the skills and trades much needed within our local industries.

Today in Commissioners Court, October 28th was proclaimed as a day to pause and reflect through prayer and public ceremony the sacrifices of our Service Members, past and present. When in the course of global affairs, it becomes necessary to answer the call of duty, and to serve their nation selflessly. We honor every veteran for their bravery, sacrifice, courage, and selflessness for the benefit of our country. We also would like to recognize the students of Harby Junior High in Alvin, Texas for writing the proclamation that was read in Commissioners Court to honor our Service Members!
