Burn Ban lifted in Brazoria County effective March 12, 2026

Post Date:03/12/2026 10:57 AM

Brazoria County Judge Matt Sebesta has lifted the burn ban for the unincorporated areas of Brazoria County effective Thursday, March 12, 2026.

Recent rainfall across the region has helped improve dry conditions, and the Keetch-Byram Drought Index (KBDI) remains well below the recommended threshold of 450, allowing the burn ban to be lifted effective immediately.

Residents are still encouraged to use caution when conducting any outdoor burning and to remain mindful of changing weather conditions. Safety should always be the top priority when burning outdoors.

The Brazoria County Fire Marshal’s Office will continue to monitor conditions across the county. If dry conditions return and fire risk increases, County officials will reassess the need to reinstate a burn ban.
