The spirit of the Old West is coming to life at the Brazoria County Historical Museum with its upcoming Cowboy Up! event on Saturday, May 2, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
This free, family-friendly program invites visitors of all ages to step back in time and experience the traditions, skills, and stories that shaped cowboy culture in Texas. From hands-on demonstrations to interactive activities, Cowboy Up! offers a unique opportunity to learn about the daily life of working cowboys and the important role they played in the region’s history.
Guests can look forward to live demonstrations and craft activities for kids that showcase traditional techniques such as roping, branding, and chuck wagon cooking. These experiences provide a deeper understanding of the hard work, resilience, and craftsmanship that defined the cowboy way of life.
This year, the Museum honors the memory of beloved volunteer and true cowboy, Jack Taylor. Jack generously shared his passion and knowledge of branding and cowboy heritage with countless visitors—especially children—leaving a lasting impact on the community. The Museum was truly honored to know him, and his legacy continues to live on through programs like Cowboy Up! that celebrate the traditions he loved.
Cowboy Up! is free and open to the public, making it the perfect weekend outing for families. The Brazoria County Historical Museum is located at 100 East Cedar in Angleton. For more information about this program or others, follow the museum on Facebook or call 979-864-1208.
Saddle up and head out for a memorable day celebrating Texas cowboy culture this May!
