The Brazoria County Historical Museum is inviting the community to come together in celebration of America's 250th anniversary with a fun-filled family event honoring the nation's history, community spirit, and local heroes.

The community gathering will take place on Saturday, July 11, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the museum, located at 100 East Cedar Street in Angleton. Admission is free, and families of all ages are encouraged to attend.

This special event will feature interactive stations hosted by various Brazoria County departments, giving visitors the opportunity to learn more about the services and people who help keep the county running every day. First responders from across the county will also be participating, with emergency vehicles and service trucks on-site for children and families to explore up close during a Touch-a-Truck experience.

In addition to the interactive stations and vehicle displays, the event will include children's crafts, face painting, and hands-on activities designed to celebrate America's rich history while creating lasting family memories.

The Museum aims to bring the community together to celebrate this historic milestone in a way that is both educational and fun. America's 250th anniversary is an opportunity to reflect on our nation's past while recognizing the people and organizations that continue to serve our communities today.

As part of the 250th birthday celebration, the Museum will also open a new exhibit. It will trace how the decisions made at Fort Necessity in 1754 led to the colonization of Texas 75 years later. What was initially a small border skirmish between British and French militias in the Western Territory ignited a costly war that stretched across the globe. The expense of that war opened a cycle of war and debt that changed nations, cultures, and the foundations of our current life. The exhibit will open at the Museum on July 7th and run through December.
