Welcome to the Home of the Probate Court Investigations Office. This site was designed to assist residents of Brazoria County and other counties in gaining a better understanding of the Guardianship process.
NOTICE: NEW LAW FOR GUARDIANS
The 89th Texas Legislature passed HB3376, which amends Texas Government Code 155.204 to require certain guardians to complete an annual training regarding Alzheimer’s Disease, Dementia and related disorders.
The Supreme Court of Texas adopted rules regarding this in JBCC Rule 10.3.

In Brazoria County, Guardianship matters are heard in the following Courts:

The Probate Court Investigation office reports to the four County Court at Law and Probate Courts and is staffed by:

The Guardianship Investigator investigates the circumstances alleged in an Application for Guardianship to determine whether a less restrictive alternative than guardianship is appropriate and submits a report to the Court. The Guardianship Investigator also audits all Annual Accounts, Annual Reports and other documents and submits recommendations to the Courts.
The Probate Court Investigation Department is the liaison between the Probate Courts and the guardians.
