Brazoria County Treasurer

Angela was born and raised in Brazoria County where she graduated from Angleton High School before attending Texas A&M University to obtain a Bachelor of Business Administration from the Mays School of Business.

Since graduating college, Angela has had extensive business experience in Brazoria County as a Commercial Loan Officer for multiple local financial institutions. She has managed large portfolios for many commercial customers, servicing both their depository and lending needs. She has been an integral part of managing the financial component of her family’s construction, real estate, and ranching businesses.  She was recognized in 2017 as a Facts’ Leader Under 40 for her community involvement, philanthropy work, and her part in revitalization of downtown Angleton.

Angela has served on the Board of Directors for multiple non-profit organizations throughout Brazoria County. Some of her most notable involvement includes; Chairman of the Board for the Greater Angleton Chamber of Commerce, Non-Executive Treasurer for the Brazoria County Fair Association, and Treasurer for the Brazoria County A&M Club. She is a Lifetime Member of the Brazoria County Fair Association, Founding Member of the Danbury ISD Education Foundation, and several other local community outreach organizations. She is an active member of her church and a devoted wife and mother.  Angela is married to Derrick Dees, also a lifelong Brazoria County resident, and together they have 4 children. 

Angela began her first term as Brazoria County Treasurer when she was sworn in on January 1, 2023.  Her purpose of seeking the position of Brazoria County Treasurer is to maintain the high standards previously set and to uphold The Constitution, while ensuring Brazoria County continues in a position of strength and stability and is poised for its inevitable rapid growth for the remainder of the decade.

Angela runs her office with integrity and transparency.   Her number one priority is to manage the taxpayer’s funds in the most fiscally responsible and efficient manner.

The Texas Constitution, Article XVI, Section 44, Local Government Code of the State of Texas Chapter 83. and Chapters 111. - 117. and Chapter 115. provide for a County Treasurer and prescribe the duties as Chief Custodian of County Finance. The County Treasurer is elected for a four-year term. Basic duties include, but are not limited to, receiving, investing, keeping and accounting, paying, applying, and disbursing all monies belonging to the County from whatever source derived, according to Law.
